Import a supplier product feed
Add your supplier's product feed to Dropday. Dropday then updates the supplier's stock levels and purchase prices every day.
Dropday downloads the feed from its URL and takes five product fields from it: SKU, EAN-13, name, stock quantity and purchase price.
What you need
The URL of your supplier's product feed. You can set up a feed yourself when it is an XML feed at a URL that needs no login.
The setup also offers a Google Sheet, FTP/SFTP and a file upload as sources, and CSV and JSON as formats. If you choose one of these, or your feed needs a login, Dropday sends your setup as a request to the Dropday team and shows it as waiting for approval.
Add the feed
In the sidebar, go to Products → Products and click Add product feed.
On the Import products page, choose the Feed URL tile.
Enter a Feed name and the Feed url (.XML). Leave Format on XML and Authentication on None.
Click Save. Dropday fetches the XML, but doesn't import the products yet.
The feed isn't linked to a supplier: its name is only a label.
Map the fields
In the Map your fields step, pair each Dropday field with a field from the XML:
SKU and Name are required;
EAN-13, Stock and Purchase price are optional.
Choose one field as the unique ID; SKU is selected at first. Then click Import. Dropday saves the mapping, queues the first import and takes you back to Product feeds.
For example, a supplier's feed could describe each product like this. The feed is illustrative: your supplier's feed has its own structure and field names.
With this feed, you pair SKU with code, Name with title, EAN-13 with barcode, Stock with qty and Purchase price with cost.
When Dropday imports the feed
Dropday imports every feed again each day at 00:00.
To import a feed now, open Product feeds, click View on the feed and then Trigger synchronisation manually under Update products.
What the import updates
Each import updates the stock levels and purchase prices of the products in the feed, matched on SKU or EAN.
Dropday doesn't manage variants as such: each row in the feed is a separate product, matched by its own SKU or EAN.
Dropday doesn't create new products, and it doesn't sync retail prices, descriptions or images. Your webshop connection doesn't write the imported values back to your webshop either.

If the import fails
Dropday rejects a feed that is not valid XML and reports the parse error. Once the feed is valid XML again, start the import by hand or wait for the next daily import.
