Send tracking back to your webshop

In WooCommerce, the Dropday plugin adds the supplier's tracking to the order for you. In another webshop, an integration of your own can use the Dropday webhook to add it.

WooCommerce

With version 2.0.0 or later of the Dropday plugin, the tracking is added to the WooCommerce order for each shipped supplier order. The plugin adds a fulfilled fulfillment with the products in that shipment and its tracking code and link, so you see the shipment and the tracking on the WooCommerce order.

The plugin maps the carrier to the WooCommerce shipping provider. An unknown carrier is stored as "Other" with its name.

Adding shipments needs WooCommerce Order Fulfillments, which is part of WooCommerce 10.1 and newer. The plugin turns it on itself; on an older WooCommerce version, the shipment is not added.

The plugin also triggers WooCommerce's own fulfillment notification, the one WooCommerce uses when you fulfil an order there, so WooCommerce can notify your customer of the shipment with the tracking.

The plugin creates the Dropday webhook for the shipped event itself, when you save its settings or open the plugin admin and no webhook is installed yet.

Shopify

To get the tracking into a Shopify order, use an integration of your own that receives the webhook, as described under "Other webshops". Marking a Dropday order as shipped does not create a fulfilment in Shopify and does not trigger Shopify's shipping email to your customer.

The supplier_order.shipped webhook is the only signal Dropday sends for a shipment: neither Dropday nor the Shopify app calls Shopify's fulfilment API.

Other webshops: what you need

An integration of your own that receives the webhook and updates your webshop, for example a small workflow in n8n or Zapier, or your own endpoint.

What the webhook gives your integration

When a supplier marks an order as shipped, Dropday sends a supplier_order.shipped event. In its data, your integration finds:

  • the tracking code and link in tracking_code and tracking_url, and the shipment time in shipped_at;

  • the carrier, when Dropday recognises it: the event includes a carrier object with a code and a name (for example dhl and DHL), or null when the carrier is not recognised;

  • the supplier in supplier_id and supplier_name;

  • the order under order, with your webshop's order ID in order.external_id.

An order with several suppliers gives one such event per supplier shipment.

For the order status, a supplier_order.created event works the same way: Dropday sends it when an order is forwarded to a supplier, including after you approve a held order, and your integration can use it to update the order status in your webshop.

Set it up in another webshop

  1. Under Settings → Webhooks, add a webhook with the URL of your integration and subscribe it to supplier_order.shipped.

  2. In your integration, use data.order.external_id from the event to find the order in your webshop, and add the tracking or fulfilment to it with data.tracking_code and data.tracking_url.

Set up order and tracking webhooks explains the webhook settings, all events with an example of the full event, and how failed deliveries are retried.
