Order files and field mapping

Create a CSV order file and attach it to the email your supplier receives, so the supplier gets each order in a file it can process. You choose the columns, and Dropday fills in one row per order line.

An order file travels as an attachment to the order email, so the supplier needs a Send Email action. If your supplier collects files from its own server instead, send orders by FTP: Dropday sets up that file for you.

Create an order file

You create an order file from the supplier's email that should carry it.

  1. In the supplier's Send Email action, under Attachments, click Add file, then Create new CSV file. Dropday creates the file and attaches it to this email.

  2. Click the new CSV chip to open the order file editor.

  3. Check the columns. A new order file starts with default columns: order ID, SKU, quantity, unit price, and name and address fields.

  4. Add or change columns until they match what your supplier needs. For each column, set a header and what it contains: a fixed value, an order, order line or supplier field, or a template expression. For example, a column with the header SKU that contains the order line's SKU.

  5. Set the file name. It can contain order placeholders and always ends in .csv.

  6. Check the result in the preview, then save the order file.

Attach an existing order file

To use an order file you already made, open the supplier's Send Email action, click Add file under Attachments and choose the CSV file.

An email can carry up to five attachments, each a packing slip or one of your order files.

What your supplier receives

Each order email to this supplier carries the CSV file: a header row with your column headers, then one row for each of the order's lines for this supplier.

Next, set the recipients, subject and body of the email in Send orders by email.
