Receive orders as a supplier or 3PL
As a supplier or fulfilment partner of a merchant that uses Dropday, find out how the merchant's orders reach you, what an order contains and how you open it.
The merchant decides how its orders reach you, in its settings for you as a supplier: by email, as a file on your FTP server, as a call to your API, or in more than one of these ways. If you have access to the Supplier Portal, you also find the orders there, whichever way they were sent. Add a supplier describes those settings from the merchant's side.
Each order you receive holds only the products of that order that the merchant sends to you, not those for other suppliers.
Orders by email
The email has the merchant's subject and text. By default, its text lists each ordered product with its quantity. It comes from orders@dropday.io, Dropday's system email, or from an email address of the merchant's own.
The merchant can attach up to five files: a packing slip as a PDF, and order files as CSV with one row per order line.
The email also has a personal link to the order page. You open the order there without logging in. Dropday records the first time you open it, which works as a kind of acknowledgement.
On the order page you can also mark the order as shipped with Mark as shipped, and get access to the Supplier Portal.
Test orders
An email whose subject starts with "TEST EMAIL:" is a test order. Merchants can send test orders to their real suppliers, so that you can check whether you can work with their orders.
Orders as a file or an API call
File on your FTP server. Dropday writes one file per order to the folder on your server that the merchant set up, as XML, CSV, TXT or JSON. A file with the same name is replaced. Dropday only sends files: it doesn't read files from your server.
Call to your API. Dropday sends the order to your API, with the address, headers and message body the merchant set up, and reads your response to see whether the order was accepted. Depending on the merchant's setup, Dropday calls once per order or once per product.
Orders sent as a file or an API call come without the link to the order page; only the order email has it. You mark them as shipped in the Supplier Portal. Test orders don't arrive as a file or an API call.
Orders in the Supplier Portal
With access to the Supplier Portal, you see in one place every order that merchants have sent you, by email, as a file or as an API call, from every merchant you work with. You open them and mark them as shipped there. Use the Supplier Portal as a supplier or 3PL explains how to get access.
When an order arrives again
A merchant can resend an order to you. Dropday then sends it again in each of the ways the merchant has set up for you, and the new send replaces the earlier one. The link in the earlier email then shows that the send was replaced, instead of the order.
Once you've shipped an order, mark it as shipped and add its tracking.
